The main event in Seattle today seems to be the fireworks display at
Gas Works Park, scheduled to begin around 10:00pm. The display will feature fireworks by Pyro Spectaculars, synchronized to music. The park is accessible via the 26 bus; due to the huge crowds that are expected to descend upon Gas Works tonight, public transportation is recommended. And if you opt to stay at home, you can still catch all the excitement on KING5, which will be airing the fireworks exhibition live.
According to Seattle's official parks and recreation website, Gas Works Park boasts a gorgeous view of Seattle and large areas for kids to run and play. One note is that
the park was built on the site of a gas manufacturing plant, so access to Lake Union is restricted due to hazardous chemicals and sediment in the area.
