Fireworks at Gas Works Park!

The main event in Seattle today seems to be the fireworks display at Gas Works Park, scheduled to begin around 10:00pm. The display will feature fireworks by Pyro Spectaculars, synchronized to music. The park is accessible via the 26 bus; due to the huge crowds that are expected to descend upon Gas Works tonight, public transportation is recommended. And if you opt to stay at home, you can still catch all the excitement on KING5, which will be airing the fireworks exhibition live.

According to Seattle's official parks and recreation website, Gas Works Park boasts a gorgeous view of Seattle and large areas for kids to run and play. One note is that the park was built on the site of a gas manufacturing plant, so access to Lake Union is restricted due to hazardous chemicals and sediment in the area.

Never too early for Christmas... A Christmas Carol Tour Train arrives July 4th weekend.

Experience a bit of irony this July 4th weekend aboard Disney's A Christmas Carol Tour Train. In promotion of its latest remake of the Dickens' classic, set to be released in November 2009, the Disney Tour Train is winding its way around the country. On July 3rd, the caboose will make a stopover in Seattle's International District, giving you the chance for a behind the scenes look at the making of A Christmas Carol, along with a sneak peek at some select scenes from the movie.

The tour train launched in May in Los Angeles, and has since made stops in Sante Fe, Denver, San Francisco, and a few other West Coast cities.
You can catch the tour for three days this weekend at King Street Station. Detailed info is below.
